Just wanted to follow up on an earlier question: is it possible to put social media icons in the header? In the same manner that it is in the footer, off to the right side?
Yes, visually I don't like the additional line of space that the top area creates, so I disabled it. My preference would be to have the social icons on the menu line.
A couple weeks ago (before I found and fell in love with Gem Theme) I was testing a theme which I ended up not liking (too limited).
But I did like how you could have the socials on the menu line at the right.
Two questions:
1. How does one add social icons as part of the header menu? (instead of top menu)
2. How does one change the width of the header menu? (so it's not full container)

1. You need to edit:
/wp-content/themes/thegem/header.php
and
/wp-content/themes/thegem/top_area.php
It's templates, just copy it to the child theme.

just activate top area in the theme options. Or you need to add socials to the menu?

Sorry, without code changes it's not possible, you need to edit:
/wp-content/themes/thegem/header.php
It's temple, just copy it to the child theme.
