I've got same issue. Have posted private message containing basically the same errors. Please can you (TheGem theme masters) look at this urgently as we are all waiting on you to solve this.

Further to my comment above I think I found the problem. As TheGem media is organised into folders this is why images are not showing up. My suggestion would be to uncheck in Settings >> Media "Organise my uploads into month- and year-based folders" so the media items are located in a generic folder when compiling the theme.

php_value memory_limit 256M
php_upload_max_filesize 64M
php_max_input_time = 3600
php_value max_input_vars 5000
