I can't make changes to theme options - when I try to save I get the following error message.
TheGem's styles cannot be customized because file "C:\wamp64\www\theatrix/wp-content/themes/thegem-child/css/custom.css" cannot be modified. Please check your server's settings. Then click "Save Changes" button.
I have already tried reinstalling wordpress and the theme from scratch and have encountered the same issue both times. I'm working on a child theme. I'm then prompted to give my host details and password/ user. As i'm local I've tried localhost and my details, which has no effect.
I've used this theme on multiple occasions before with no issues, but I'm now working on a time sensitive project. I see another user had the same issue but the fix was taken off line.
Is this file exists on the hosting? Try to reinstall child theme (theme in attach), also pls. check this file should be writable ( the file permissions there should be 777)

Thanks Gregor, it was a problem with my child theme.
Using the file attached resolved my issue.
I wonder if you can help me with another problem. I'm finding the theme is degrading the quality of some images, my site logo png is naturally over 300px wide but when set to over around 170px on the theme it is noticeably distorted.
Is there some kind of compression taking place I'm able to control? Thanks

Can you set the site to any test hosting?
