I'm trying to import the News Demo to my existing site (which has over 9K articles already) and I can't find a setting to do this smoothly without importing the existing content in the demo itself.
I'm not sure if this is possible with existing content on a news site. Please advise.
Hi William, would you be so kind to share bit more details on your situation? So you have already 9K articles, you wish to import our demo but without demo content? Not quite sure if I have understood correctly. Anyway, please make a backup of your website in case the chosen import option will not be the right choice for you, so you can roll back

Before the 'build your own website' thing hit, you could just upload a new theme, activate to an active site with no issues as all your previous articles would show up in new theme.
With the demo, we tried importing into another smaller site with just 3 articles to test, but there doesn't seem to be a way to keep the demo content from coming over with it. As our site is a very active news site, we just wanting to add TheGem since it seems to be much lighter than Newspaper has become.
Basically we just want the theme structure for News Magazine Demo without any of the content (109 articles and images) coming with it. Hopefully that makes sense.
ok, I see. Did you try to use "Single Pages" import? In this import option you can select only those demo pages, which you need to be a layout basis. In this way you will:
- import Theme Options with the appropriate demo style - homepage with the appropriate layout - one post with the appropriate layout - one page etc.

Thank you. For some reason even importing only demo 'pages' still brings the content with it.
One last question...
Do you all have a tutorial (written or video) or creating a homepage from scratch as even trying to build off a demo can be hard with some settings built in.
