NEW products I publish don't get tagged with an icon at all.
If I view "all products" and mark any product as "featured" it adds the "NEW" icon to that product - regardless of the product's listing age.
Yes, this is by design so that you can manage New label the way you want, regardless of when the product was created.
So is there no longer a way to have "featured" items? (and you can always change the posting date/time on products).
There was no such function in the theme, it is a label for new products.
