How can I have a photo gallery launch from a single photo? In other words, I want to place a single photo on a page and when the user clicks on it, the lightbox launches with all of the photos in that photo gallery being accessible by clicking on the right or left arrows? Is this possible?

Thanks Oliver. I read everything on that page but am still a little confused. Can you give me step-by-step instructions on how I can have a photo gallery launch from a single photo. What I'm hoping to do is create a page with several photographs on it. When you click on each photo, a different photo gallery pops up in a lightbox. (And would this happen on the "portfolio page" or on another "page" that I create?) Any information you can provide is appreciated.

    Hi Mark,

    in short:

"What I'm hoping to do is create a page with several photographs on it."

    1. each of this photographs should be added as a separate portfolio item/project in your WordPress, please check: https://docs.codex-themes.com/article/496-how-to-add-projects-portfolio-items . You need to add title and you need to add the respective photograph as "Featured Image". Also you need to assign a portfolio category to this portfolio item, say "My Photographs".

    2. Repeat the (1) for other photographs you have, assigning them the same portfolio category

    3. after you have added this several photographs as projects/portfolio items, create new page and in Elementor add the "Portfolio Grid" element to your page: https://docs.codex-themes.com/article/108-portfolio-grid . In the "source" select the portfolio category" you have used for your photographs (like "My Photographs".)

Ok, in this way you have displayed your photographs on the page. Now the next step: "When you click on each photo, a different photo gallery pops up in a lightbox."

    4. Edit each of the portfolio items/projects (your photographs in (1) - just go to the editing of this portfolio items in your WP admin), scroll down to the Page Options section and make the adjustments as described here https://docs.codex-themes.com/article/500-how-to-show-video-project-gallery-or-animated-gif-in-portfolio-grids-listings

    You need to select this

then you need to add the gallery photos here

    That's all.

Kindly let me know in case of any further questions.

Thanks Oliver. This is great!! I was able to build the photo galleries by following your instructions. Just a couple of more questions:

1.) How can I get captions to show up for each photo in the lightbox? (There are captions on each photo in the "Old Havana" gallery but they don't show up when you launch lightbox. I still have to write captions for the photos in the three other galleries).

2.) How can I add a "hover" effect when someone runs a mouse over the featured photos on the Photo Gallery page. Here's a link to the Photo Galleries page: https://markmicheli.com/photo-galleries-3/

Let me know if you need my login information. I was afraid to post it here, in case this ticket is a public ticket.
