I am not quite sure I did understand correctly your requirement. Can you please share more details and explanations? So you wish to have some image as the header image on your portfolio page and after this image you wish to show the featured image? Please provide a link to this page and a screenshot of how you wish this to have, thank you.

When I put "featured image" it show on main and archive page as a thumnail, and header image(top image) on the portfolio page. BUT, I don't want this way... I wan to use "featured image" just for a thumbnail not for for header image. If I want to put image at the top of the header(in my case I use digital maketing template for the portfolio page) what options do I have? do I need to set custome field?
You need to edit the portfolio page template via TheGem templates builder (check documentation https://docs.codex-themes.com/category/507-portfolio-page-builder ) and in the background settings of your section you need to edit the dynamic settings. You have already shared a screenshot https://prnt.sc/210JXKh5x6m9 - you can remove this dynamic setting and use some static image instead.
Or do you mean something else?

Yes I did, removing dynamic setting and use static image instead. then all the portfolio pages get same hero image... as we set certain image in the template page
I want every portfolio pages have different unique hero image that representing each portfolio.
In this case you need to add a new custom field to your portfolio pages. I recommend to use ACF plugin for this:
To add the Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) Image field to your WordPress pages, follow these steps:
Step 1: Install and Activate the ACF Plugin - Log in to your WordPress dashboard. - Navigate to Plugins > Add New. - Search for "Advanced Custom Fields". - Install and activate the plugin.
Step 2: Create a Field Group - Go to Custom Fields > Add New. - Create a new field group by clicking Add New. - Enter a title for the field group (e.g., "Portfolio Images").
Step 3: Add an Image Field - Click on + Add Field. - Fill in the field settings: - Field Label: Enter a label (e.g., "Additional Portfolio Image"). - Field Name: This will be automatically generated based on the label. - Field Type: Select "Image" from the dropdown menu.
Step 4: Set Location Rules - In the Location box, set rules to determine where this field group should appear. For example, to add this field to all portfolio pages, set the rule to Show this field group if Post Type is equal to Portfolio.
Step 5: Publish the Field Group - Click Publish to save your field group.
After that you will get the additional "Image" field in your portfolio page settings, where you can upload the alternative portfolio image.
I am very pleased to know you are satisfied with TheGem and its support. It would be much appreciated if you could leave a positive rating on themeforest.net - this is very inspiring for us to constantly improve TheGem for your best user experience! Thank you in advance!

I want to separate the main thumbnail image(featured Image) and the header image at the top. Inserting each of images individually.
