    Hi,

I installed WPML on my site because I read in your guide that it is compatible with TheGem.
After having automatically translated the entire site in both English and Arabic, I see that there are some problems, which I list below:
    1) The title area is missing in the translated pages. For example, look at these pages in Italian:
    https://www.websicily.it/servizi/ or https://www.websicily.it/contact/
and look at the same pages in English
    https://www.websicily.it/en/services/ or https://www.websicily.it/en/contacts/
I tried to change the settings of the Title Area on this page:
    https://www.websicily.it/en/the-agency/
but the only result obtained is that I see the Italian Title Area on the English translation.
I contacted WPML support, who told me that this depends on the theme of the site (TheGem) and showed me that, translating a normal page created with the wordpress editor and with another template, all the elements are translated.
I told them that I hope that the solution is not to create a title for each page and for each language, otherwise the automatic translation function of WPML is nullified. But their Support specified that, if the theme is compatible with WPML, then it should also translate a dynamic title, such as the "Custom title" used in the pages of my site.
So how can I correctly translate the pages that have the Custom Title?

    2) As you can see in the attached screenshot, the logo and two menu items are missing from the Arabic menu, which are however present in the English translation.
How can I make the logo and the missing menu items visible in the Arabic translation?

    Thank you
    Best regards
    GDB

    Hi,

    1) Please set the title template in the Page Options:

    https://nuovo.websicily.it/wp-admin/post.php?post=3986&action=edit&lang=en

    2) Sorry, I don't see any menus created on your site. How did you insert this menu?

    Hi,Thanks for the reply.

    1) This does not solve the problem. As you can see from the attached screenshot, I have inserted the Custom title in the title template. But in the English page the title remains in Italian, while in the Arabic version the title is not even visible.
And I certainly cannot manually create a title for each page and for each language, otherwise it means that your template is not compatible with Woocommerce.
But it certainly is not like that and there will be a way to solve the problem. What is it?

    2) You do not see menus in the menu list because they were created automatically by WPML, with the option "Translate the entire site automatically".
Please see WPML > Sincronizzazione dei menu di Wordpress:
    https://nuovo.websicily.it/wp-admin/admin.php?page=sitepress-multilingual-cms%2Fmenu%2Fmenu-sync%2Fmenus-sync.php

Since you declare compatibility with WPML, you should know how it interacts with your template.
I suggest you install WPML on a demo like the one on my site
    https://codex-themes.com/thegem/sites/startup/
and try to automatically translate the entire site into Italian and Arabic.
After you see the anomalies, fix the problem in your template code.

Please do not make any changes to my site. Indicate what changes need to be made and I will do it.
    Thanks

    Best regards

    1) You need to disable this setting and edit this description:

    https://nuovo.websicily.it/wp-admin/post.php?post=3986&action=edit

    2. Is your problem solved?

    Hi,

    thank You for reply.

    1) Sorry, but this is not a solution. So if I add 40 languages to my site, I would have to manually add 40 titles and 40 excerpts for each page. This is unworkable!
If the theme is compatible with WPML, the automatic translation must also include the title of a page.
Asking WPML support, they confirm that the template developer must make the strings available for the translation of these two fields, even if these two fields (title and excerpt) are displayed dynamically.
If this does not happen, it means that TheGem is not 100% compatible with WPML.
According to the directive 2000/31/CE and related laws issued, the statement
"TheGem was carefully tested and is compatible with WPML"
    present on this page:
    https://docs.codex-themes.com/article/577-what-is-wpml
presupposes that your theme is compatible with all the features of the plugin, including automatic translation. Automatic translation cannot work only a part of the page, excluding the title.
So I invite you to fix the bug of the lack of compatibility of your theme with WPML, regarding the title and the excerpt.

    2) No, the problem is not solved. Why do you ask this question? Have you seen the menu in Arabic?
This is the menu automatically translated into English, which is correct:
    https://www.nuovo.websicily.it/en/
while this is the one translated into Arabic:
    https://www.nuovo.websicily.it/ar/
You don't need to know how to read Arabic to see that the logo is missing, two menu items are missing, and the language selector is also missing.
In the previous communication you asked me how I translated the menu.
I explained to you that it was automatically translated and sent you this link to show you how WPML automatically translated the menus:
    https://nuovo.websicily.it/wp-admin/admin.php?page=sitepress-multilingual-cms%2Fmenu%2Fmenu-sync%2Fmenus-sync.php

I also suggested you to install WPML on a demo like the one on my site
    https://codex-themes.com/thegem/sites/startup/
and try to automatically translate the entire site into Italian and Arabic.
After you see the anomalies, fix the problem in your template code.

If I use another theme, WPML automatically translates the menu correctly into Arabic, but with your theme the logo, two menu items and the language selector are missing.
What progress have you made on this problem of the Arabic menu not being translated correctly by your theme? I allow myself to ask this question because three days have already passed and you are still asking me if I have solved the problem, proving that you have not even looked at the menu in Arabic.

    I await your update.

    Thank You
    Best regards

    Hi Giuseppe,

let me jump into this discussion regarding your question about the title templates.

The title area templates you have created are using dynamic content. By editing your title area template we see this:

    https://nuovo.websicily.it/wp-admin/post.php?post=1843&action=elementor

    2677394178.png

In this configuration the title will be dynamically taken from this field in page options of the page/post:

    https://nuovo.websicily.it/wp-admin/post.php?post=487&action=edit&lang=it

    2512079829.png

The same is with the post/page excerpt:

    7550787868.png

This is taken from this field in page options:

    5313247102.png

However, the page options fields are formed in the big dynamic data array, which is not accessible via the advanced translation editor. That's why you need to adjust your title area template to get the dynamic data from the page/post title and page/post excerpt meta field:

    2997712995.png

To do this, you need to:

    1. Disable the rich content title and excerpt in page options:

    8842246569.png

    2. Add the post/page excerpt in the excerpt meta fields:

    9393995152.png

    3. Replace the dynamic values in the title area template to get the content dynamically from the actual post/page title and page/post excerpt meta field:

    9070297107.png
    7033521769.png

So, now you can translate your post or page in the advanced editor and you will see, that you can translate the title and the excerpt and the translation will be reflected in the template:

    7747355035.png

To keep it short: after adding the dynamic fields and elements to your title area template, you can then translate it by translating the respective post/page, but not the template itself. Of course, if you wish to use some static text elements in your title area template, then in this case you can translate it by translating the title area template - check, I have made an example:

    1067457640.png

This is a static text and you can translate it by translating the title area template:

    4523247381.png

I hope this explanation helps. Let me know in case of any further questions.
