I found myself surprised when after a theme upgrade I was no longer able to add news items to my news section and especially more when I wasn't able to edit (to correct) existing news. In the theme's Extra Options, the '<<News>> post type' now shows '(Deprecated)' and it seems this option is no longer viable. What is in place to replace it? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Thank you for your request. We would recommend to use blog posts for your news as there is no specific need to have a separate post type only for "news". You can publish your news as posts (you can use separate categories for this) and display these posts on your website using "Posts Extended Grid" element. You can learn more about posts extended grid in this documentation article: https://docs.codex-themes.com/article/557-posts-extended-grid
