I previously had a gradient on a quickfinders widget i had created.  now that ive rebuilt the site, i cannot make the gradient work.  i can see the gradient colors are applied but do not show.  please advise

Here are some screen shots.
the solid icon is from the new site, the gradient is from the old site.
i copied the widget from one site to the other, double checked the customization options, but when i do, it shows as grey, no gradient, no color.

the solid color icon is from using the solid color option, so the color works.  when i select 45 split, or 90 split, it also work.  but when i select gradient, it does not work.
