Sorry, we did not change documentation. Wordpress from version 4.3 has own interface for this. You can change favicon in Appearance -> Customize -> Site Identity -> Site Icon.
About snapchat: do you have this icon in svg or png format.

You need to have necessary snapchat icon in png format or in font files (eot, woff, svg, ttf). For creating font files with icon you can use icomoon.io service.
When you will have file with snapchat icon (png or font) we give you a code for add this icon to footer.

EDIT #2: The above set of instructions DOES NOT WORK to add your own icons. I've tried, step by step and no success. Edited CSS, functions.php file, created new scalia-socials.svg file and other extension files, nothing. HELP?
EDIT #3: Here is what happens with the social icons in my footer: View Image Here (as you can see, they should be there, but the image does not display and the alignment seems messed up. HELP?

What is the code to create new Socials? IE.) 500px, Flickr, Instagram, etc?
If you can just create the base template for creating new social fields to create, that'd be greatly appreciated.
